A Punchy Slice of Life Series

StepSisters is an original comic series written and illustrated by myself. It has been posted on the webcomic site Tapas since 2017 and recently began to be cross posted to Webtoons in 2019.
The series started out as a project for a young girl who fell in love with manga and wanted to see more characters like herself in the lead role. As time rolled on and the young girl got older, StepSisters turned into a passion project where she weaves through themes of grief, displacement, acceptance, and self-discovery. Synopsis: Mariya Kato didn’t think her life could get even more turbulent after her mother’s death. High School is at an all-time frantic with grades, being captain of the mixed martial arts team, college prep, and a longstanding rival that continues to torment her. But now, she’s suddenly found herself living with two new family members: a stepmother and her daughter. Now, while she continues to grieve over the loss of her mother she has to navigate this new family dynamic of a ‘new’ mother and a sister she didn’t ask for. Follow Mariya, her best friend Ren, and Amy throughout the rest of their high school years as all three of them make mistakes, grow, and have the occasional fight or two (or three). |
